Teaching Children How To Learn
A vital component of any quality education is teaching the child how to learn. At COA International, our instructors are uniquely equipped to give students the tools they need to expand the learning process and help them understand how to get the most out of their subjects of study.
We are the only online school offering free Study Skills for Life Courses to all our students. The Study Skills for Life Courses cover principles on how to study successfully, with an emphasis on application and use over memorisation and test scores.
Suppose a student is having difficulty with a given subject. In that case, we are committed to discovering the exact nature and cause of the problem and addressing these specific points with the exact tools the child needs to overcome the obstacle. We teach students a comprehensive set of steps they can take to address any subsequent learning difficulties, and we help them apply those tools moving forward.
We also help students to realise that these kinds of difficulties and challenges that they may have faced in the past and may deal with in the future are surmountable, given the correct actions on the part of the student and if he or she is equipped with the right tools to address them. Over time, our specially designed courses and methodology gradually teach the child how to study effectively no matter what challenges they face, and give them the tools they need to take genuine control over their education, and ultimately their futures.
Teaching Methodology
At COA International, we believe there is no good reason why education should remain trapped in the brick and mortar schoolhouse of generations past.
Technology allows us to reach students in 160 countries and connect them with top instructors in an array of subjects. Perhaps more importantly, our programme’s tech-based approach allows us to connect our students with one another – and with a wider world than they ever imagined.
The COA International system has the flexibility to allow students in every time zone to connect at their convenience and learn at their own pace in a program tailored to their individual needs and interests. Our Online School Portal is a one-stop, easy-to-navigate access point into everything the student needs outside of class, a place where they can contact teachers, submit their homework or even access valuable life lessons.
And online learning doesn’t mean learning in isolation. Students participate actively, using an online whiteboard, chat features, asking questions, and giving answers just as they would in an in-person classroom. They will be tasked with engaging fully for the hour-long classes, all of which have no more than 15 students and instructors offering one-on-one support.
At the end of each class, students are given homework to further lock in what they’ve learned. Teachers constantly oversee students’ interactions and offer support as they monitor the student’s progress, and they are available for questions both during and after class. By reducing the distractions of the real-world classroom and homing in on making the work fun and engaging, we maximise learning potential.
If English is a student’s second language, COA International offers an Intensive English programme that will guide them every step of the way from having almost zero English to fluency in reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
Students will also be able to participate in local and international STEM-related contests for students, like the Maths Olympiad or the Physics Olympiad.

Also of major interest is the optional one-week residential school in the UK. This programme offers students a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to not only learn in a new environment but also to develop practical skills and gain unique real-world experiences. They’ll meet teachers and attend their classes in person, as well as build their communication skills and group work skills while socialising with their peers. Not only is this programme a wonderful opportunity for a unique in-person learning, but it also means gaining valuable cultural insight and boosting a student’s confidence. It’s an opportunity to make new friends from around the world – friends that may become ongoing study partners or even lifelong mates.
