Why Study Cambridge IGCSE World Literature?

Cambridge IGCSE World Literature course encourages you to explore literature from different countries and cultures. Through study of great novelists, poets and dramatists from around the world, you will acquire lifelong skills in interpreting and evaluating texts. You will learn how to develop and communicate an informed personal response to literature.

The course has been designed to be flexible: teachers can choose texts relevant to their learners’ circumstances. The aims of the course are to develop your ability to enjoy, understand and respond to literature written in English or in English translation from different countries and cultures. The aims of the course are to enable students to:

  • Enjoy the experience of reading literature from around the world
  • Understand and respond to literary texts in different forms (poetry, prose, and drama) and form different countries and cultures
  • Communicate an informed personal response appropriately and effectively
  • Appreciate different ways in which writers achieve their effects
  • Experience literature’s contribution to aesthetic, imaginative and intellectual growth
  • Explore the contribution of literature to and understanding of areas of human concern
  • Build a firm foundation for further study of literature

Prior requirements and hours of study

Cambridge IGCSE World Literature requires about 130 hours of study. The number of hours needed may vary depending on your previous experience of the subject.

We recommend that students who are beginning this course should have  previously completed an English curriculum such as the Cambridge Lower Secondary programme or equivalent national educational framework.

Examinations

Unfortunately, private candidates cannot enter for this syllabus. We can teach you this course online, but we cannot enter you for the end of year exam. If you decide to study this course with us, you will not get an official Cambridge International Qualification by the end of this course.

Course Fee

The fee for Cambridge International GCSE World Literature can be paid in monthly or termly instalments.
